Quiet Hours
Set the window your messages are allowed to send in, and see what happens to one that misses it.

Quiet hours stop your reminders landing at an hour that would annoy somebody. A message that would fall outside the window is held and sent at the start of the next one, never dropped, so nobody misses a reminder because of this.
Set Your Window
- In the sidebar, under Workspace, click Settings.
- Open the Messaging tab.
- Set Quiet Hours Start and Quiet Hours End. Both take a whole hour on a 24-hour clock, from 0 to 23.
- Check Timezone in the same panel. Quiet hours are judged in your workspace timezone, and the hint under the field shows your current time.
- Click Save Settings.
You should see Settings saved.
The Defaults, And How The Window Reads
Out of the box the window is 8 to 21, which is 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The start hour is included and the end hour is not, so with the defaults the last hour a text can go out in is the one beginning 8:00 PM. Nothing sends from 9:00 PM until 8:00 AM the next morning.
Does It Cover Email Too
Texts always respect quiet hours. Email respects them when Apply Quiet Hours To Email Too is on, in the Sending Limits panel on the same tab. It is on by default. Turn it off if you are happy for email to go out overnight.
The One Exception
An emergency broadcast is sent regardless of quiet hours. That is the Emergency option under Message Type when you click Message Attendees on an event. The per-contact daily limit notes the same thing: Emergency Broadcasts Always Send.
What A Held Message Looks Like
- In the sidebar, under Messaging, click Inbox.
- Switch to the Sent tab.
- A held message carries a Quiet Hours badge.
Hovering it tells you when it will go, and explains that quiet hours block sends outside your window so anything due late lands the next morning. The message stays queued the whole time: it is waiting, not failed.
The Other Sending Limits Beside It
The Sending Limits panel holds four more controls worth knowing about, since any of them can explain a message that has not gone yet:
- Per-Contact Daily Limit, the most texts and emails one person can get in a day. 0 means unlimited.
- Daily Send Ceiling, the most messages the whole workspace sends per day. 0 means unlimited.
- Text Rate (Per Minute), which paces texts so they do not burst.
- Email Rate (Per Minute), the same for email.
How To Tell It Worked
- Settings saved. appears, and reopening the Messaging tab shows your hours.
- The current time shown under Timezone matches your own clock.
- On the Sent tab, anything due outside the window carries a Quiet Hours badge with a send time inside it.
If Something Goes Wrong
Messages Are Going Out At The Wrong Time Of Day
Almost always the timezone rather than the hours. Check the current time shown under Timezone on the Messaging tab.
Everything Is Held And Nothing Sends
Check you have not set Quiet Hours Start and Quiet Hours End to the same number, which leaves no window at all. Also check the Notifications On switch in the top bar, which pauses all outbound reminders when it is off.
A Reminder Landed A Morning Late
That is quiet hours working. A reminder due at 10:00 PM is held until 8:00 AM. If the reminder needs to arrive the evening before, move the step earlier in the day rather than widening your window: see Editing Your Reminder Schedule.
Emails Are Going Out Overnight
Apply Quiet Hours To Email Too has been turned off. Turn it back on.
A Message Is Held But Not For Quiet Hours
Look at the badge. A Number Pending badge means texting is waiting on carrier approval of your workspace number, which is a different thing entirely: see SMS Compliance And A2P 10DLC.
